Hey, hey! It’s Ryan, again! I really appreciate you for reading this! Don’t miss the next one. Subscribe!

What!?! Is this a Father’s Day edition of a comedy newsletter? Yes, it is. And also a reminder to order go buy a gift that has two-day shipping. In honor of the special day and impending rush-delivery, I’m dropping some of my favorite father-related comedy (“dad jokes”, but not the eye roll kind) into your inbox.

INTERVIEW

Tom Papa on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

What could be more appropriate for this newsletter than comedy from a guy named Papa? Nothing. Now, this is technically an “interview”, but it’s really just Colbert teeing up Tom Papa to do his stand-up about Father’s Day which is hilarious. Go watch!!

INTERVIEW

Mike Birbiglia on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon

Birbigs and dad comedy go together like that plaid tie and striped shirt you bought your old man. Birbigs has a one-man show on Netflix and a book, both called The New One, about his experience not wanting kids and then having one. Check out this interview from 2015, right after he became a father!

STAND-UP

Stuart Goldsmith on Conan

Stu is my favorite podcast host of all time, and is also an amazing comedian. His podcast The Comedians’ Comedian with Stuart Goldsmith is the most in-depth and thoughtful conversations about comedy that you can find…and, seriously, I’ve searched…this is the winner. After all that talking about comedy, it’s no surprise that this set is so great. And, because it’s in this newsletter, it has funny stuff about being a dad. Go watch this and then his full hour, Like I Mean It, available for free(!) on YouTube.

THAT’S THE SHOW!

Thanks for reading! Stay in touch! SUBSCRIBE!

I genuinely can’t believe you read this far. You’re a master of the art of reading things…thanks for hanging with me for a few minutes. This is the end of the show, but I’ll keep writing at you for a little bit.

If you haven’t already, I hope you liked this enough to SUBSCRIBE.

If you’re a real champion with tons of friends, I’d be so grateful if you shared it with them.

You might be wondering why I started this newsletter thing…and it’s mostly because I really want to share some jokes and other funs things! It makes me happy to create and consume comedy, and there’s a lot of it out there, so hopefully this newsletter will foster a great community of people that are supportive and share some interests. Get in touch at writebeforebed@gmail.com if you have some things you want me to share or suggestions of things you’d want to see.
